** Due to the rapidly deteriorating BREXIT situation with the UK leaving the EU on 29 March 2019 without (as at 15 March 2019) any firm LEGAL ruling on *Article 50 (Brexit Agreement for 'Terms of Departure' for UK from EU) the UK £ has/is experiencing massive negative exchange rate fluctuations against the European Euro (€). This has resulted in us having to take the unusual step of immediately increasing our price for this tour (previously set in early 2018) from €398.00 per person to €440.00 per person. STAR-NEWS-30 Itinerary for our ULTRA 1 Day 75th D-Day WW2 Anniversary Tour: "Juno & Beyond 75th"
After leaving Paris at 7am (*All timings are approximate!) we will journey to the Normandy region for today's activities arriving in the Normandy area at approximately 09.30. D-Day is a special place in Canadian memory alongside Vimy Ridge. 14,000 Canadian troops landed on Juno Beach on D Day with accompanying high casualties, but by nightfall the the Canadians had penetrated 12 miles inland - deeper than any of the five Allied invasion forces.

Canadians continued to play a pivotal and important role in the battle of France in the ongoing fighting in Normandy, centred around Caen. Canadian reinforcements resulted in the activation of the 1st Canadian Army, which played a major part in defeating the Germans in Normandy. Major David Currie of the South Alberta Regiment won the Victoria Cross for his actions at Saint-Lambert-sur-Dives.

STAR-NEWS-30 (At 01 March 2019) Please note that as per our other 75th Anniversary multi-day tours we have not been informed by VAC (Veteran Affairs Canada) of the official events planned for the day - nor the traffic arrangements around Juno Beach and other areas - nor the French security forces plans. We do not expect to know this for some weeks - or even later, however we have been  advised by VAC there will be a national Canadian event on Juno Beach, with admission restricted to 2000 (approximately) ticket holders ONLY(!) - with a larger - less formal commemoration event probably at Bretteville-sur-Laize War Cemetery which at this stage we plan on attending on this tour.

We also expect restricted access to some of the beaches and roads due to high security in place for visiting world leaders etc. However, there will be much to see and do - both festive and commemorative events and a highly significant historic atmosphere to experience.

Today you will experience a fully guided tour - led by an *EXPERT Spirit of Remembrance Battlefield Guide/Historian (*on Canada D-Day WW2 history) for this full day guided tour to a selection of Canadian beach and inland battles (dependant on any movement restrictions). These could include Juno Beach, the sites of the battles between the Canadians and the SS in the hinterland areas, and the the battlefields between Caen and Falaise and Lambert sur Dives.

This tour will also take part in a Canadian commemorative event - but NOT the Juno Beach VAC event.

URGENT!!!!!
NOTE! Commemorative tickets  to the OFFICIAL VAC Juno Beach event

As noted previously, entrance to this event (Juno Beach Centre) will be extremely limited with only 2000 (approximately) tickets issued in total. To obtain these tickets you MUST register with VAC immediately once the online registration for these events is opened to the public.

(Note - VAC now advise this is closed - however - because of our very close working relationship with VAC - Spirit of Remembrance 'may' be able to obtain - in very special circumstances tickets to this event. (i.e. children of Canadian D-Day veterans) (Please contact us URGENTLY if applicable).

Spirit of Remembrance  CANNOT register you for this event. If you are successful in obtaining tickets for this event, we will disembark you (as a part of our group) at the marshalling point for VAC coaches/transport to the event and pick you up again at the transport drop-off point sometime after the ceremony. You will however NOT be able to participate in the days itinerary for non VAC event attendees with this tour. Note that this option is taken NO cost reduction for this tour applies.

We will leave the area at approximately 7pm and return to Paris with an estimated arrival time at our drop off point (to be advised) of around 23.00 (11pm)

BONUS! Our battlefield historians will provide context and help wherever they can with information about Canadian units and battles. (Please supply your relative(s) forces information when you book with us for the tour.)
